Aimee's Purchases Today

Hey Junkies,

Here is how my transactions for today worked.  I bought the 5 boxes of Nature Valley Bars.  I knew I'd have to eat most of the cost but they were on sale and I had some $0.50/2 coupons so, that's ok (I'm leaving for camp tomorrow so, I'll take them with).  So, I purchased those, then got the catalina for $4.50 off of milk in addition to the $3.00 off your next purchase.  Total purchase here:  $8.28 for my 5 boxes of Nature Valley bars.

Next transaction, I bought five boxes of GM cereal for $1.75 each, had $1/2 boxes coupons that I used, then I used the $3.00 off catalina coupons.  I then got one more catalina coupon for $4.50 off of milk and another catalina for $2/2 GM cereals.  Total purchase there: $4.28 for my Lucky Charms and Cookie Crisp.

Last transaction, I bought 4 gallons of milk, used both my catalinas for $4.50 off of milk and 2 $0.75/1 gallon coupons and then used my in ad coupon for TP.  So, I got my milk for free, got a catalina for $2 off 5 boxes and took an additional $0.50 off my TP.  Total purchase here:  $4.50

In summary, without my coupons it would have cost me $68.06 at regular price and I spent a total of $17.06 including tax.

Want to learn how to coupon?

Hi, I'm Brianne and my friend Aimee and I are going to use this blog to teach you to be coupon saavy, save money and fill your food storage/stock pile! Couponing can be confusing, overwhelming, and frustrating BUT it can also be very very rewarding!

A few things you need to know to get started:
1. SAVE all your coupons, even if they are for products you do not normally use. (we will talk about coupon storage later, but for now just keep 'em in a box, binder, drawer what have you) Coupons are available online as well as in the ads. Ads will be available for purchase here on the blog SOON!
2. Study your ads. Walmart, Target, Kmart and Walgreens ads come out on Sunday. Broulims and Albertsons on Wednesday.
3. Be prepared to change the way you shop. For the first 1-3 months you will be buying all your regular items and atleast 1-2 items in bulk that will last you up to 3 months.

For example:
Gatorade was on my grocery list as a staple that I purchased weekly for my husband's lunches. Broulims had 8 pack Gatorade B1G1 (buy one get one FREE) so I bought one 8 pk for $6.99 and got the 2nd 8pk FREE. Normally I spend $4.49 for an 8pk at Walmart. BUT at Broulims I was spending $3.49. Then when I got there I saw a coupon on each 8pk for $1 off an 8pk so I used $1 off 1 for both 8pks. (you can use a coupon for the each item even if it your Free item in your B1G1 scenario) So I was getting each 8pk for $2.49. So I bought 10 8pks. I spent $25 on Gatorade that will last me 2 1/2 months when I would have spent $45. Now that Gatorade purchase should last me until it either goes on sale for the same deal or a better one. So I won't have to pay retail for Gatorade.

The best deals are obviously the FREE deals and those are always the easiest to add into your budget when you begin couponing, so we are going to dedicate this blog to helping you fill your food storage/stock pile by helping you get the BEST deals weekly. These deals will include items that are either $1 or less... hopefully FREE and SMOKIN' deals which are the lowest prices we've ever seen an item.

Begin with a BANG!

If you are joining us as one of our beginners here are a few ideas for items you may want to buy more than a weeks worth to add to your stock pile. Start using coupons on as many of your regular purchases aspossible to save the extra few dollars to spend on the following items. If you can't get enough to last you three months don't stress, another deal may pop up sooner than 3 months on a different brand. (Scroll over coupon suggestions for the printable links.) Happy couponing! Let us know how you did!
